According to Fitch Ratings latest telecom special report released today, postpaid smartphone penetration increased to 46.8% in third-quarter 2011, a change of 310 basis points (bps) sequentially. Googles Android Development Team has released a build of the mobile that will run on x86 chips.
In practical terms, this means Intel and AMD processors could be powering Android tablets of the future.
Its not a perfect build yet. 9to5Google points out that theres not yet support for sound, camera, Ethernet, or hardware acceleration on an Intel chipset.
